Surely reporters would be more interested in asking a new signing why they chose to sign for a certain club, what aspirations they had for the move or why they felt things hadn’t worked out at their previous team?
But it seems one press member in Italy today thought he should quiz new Fiorentina signing Anderson on his sexuality.
The Manchester United midfielder has sealed a loan deal to the Serie A giants until the end of the season.
And, during his official presentation to the media and fans, he was forced to deny that he is gay when asked.
He said: “It’s the first time I hear this story. I respect gay people and have absolutely nothing against them but I like women. I have four children.”
Anderson then got on to the real matter of explaining why he was so happy to be at Fiorentina and how he does not plan to return to Old Trafford.
