In the most unsurprising news of the year so far, Cristiano Ronaldo has beaten Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery to the Ballon d’Or.
The Portuguese international has had a sensational year scoring 66 goals in 56 appearances.
The Real Madrid forward played a massive 4,542 minutes on the pitch taking 160 shots at goal with an impressive 54.1% shooting accuracy.
Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that Ronaldo can continue his form of 2013 as Real Madrid play catch up with city rivals Atletico and last year’s champions Barcelona in the race for the La Liga title.
Real currently sit third in the table, just three points behind Barcelona and Atletico and with last year’s Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi making his return from injury, things are certainly heating up in La Liga.
But then again, you wouldn’t bet against CR7 propelling the Bernabeu side past the finish line ahead of their competitors.
