Over the last few months we have brought you regular updates concerning the naming rights and planned rebuild of Real Madrid‘s stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu.

And it seems that with the club finally unveiling images of what their £328m remodelled home will look like today, Twitter was far from impressed.

Madrid President, Florentino Perez, confirmed the clubs intention to improve the playing experience in the capital city and in doing so place the Bernabeu head and shoulders above all other stadia.

Perez said: “We want to make the Santiago Bernabeu the best stadium in the world.”

“Our commitment is to continue increasing the heritage of our club, thus gain in economic strength, so we can continue to lead in an environment of increasing competition.”

That being said, and with it being reported that the stadium’s new exterior will include a retractable roof and a 360 degree scoreboard… you’d expect football fans around the world to feel quite excited.

And you’d be wrong.

Yes, as soon as the images went viral, Twitter users all over the globe began trolling the Spanish giants, mocking their new stadium and comparing it to a piece of Tupperware, among several other comical appliances…
