After Late Deadline Day Drama It Turns Out Brian McDermott Is Still Leeds United Manager After All

If you tuned into Sky Sports News‘ coverage of transfer deadline day you will be aware of the whole saga involving Leeds United, Brian McDermott and Ross McCormack.

It started with speculation surrounding skipper McCormack’s future at the club before the player released a statement saying he was going nowhere and wanted to continue working at the club under boss McDermott.

Fast forward an hour and it’s announced that Leeds have sacked the former Reading manager and McCormack then comes on to the programme to voice his disappointment with the decision.

Are you still following?

Well, that almost led to the Scottish striker leaving the club BUT, unbelievably, Leeds have issued a statement today saying McDermott IS STILL their manager – despite the fact he was nowhere to be seen during their 5-1 win over Huddersfield Town this afternoon.

The club’s statement read: “The club would like to make it clear that Brian McDermott remains our first team manager. He has not been dismissed from his post as has been suggested and we look forward to him continuing in his role with us in taking Leeds United forwards.”

Quite the way to backtrack.

McCormack bagged a hat-trick in the Championship match and was quick to Tweet a rallying call to the United fans:
