Diego Maradona Set To Come Out Of Retirement At 53-Years-Old

He’s split opinion when it comes to the old argument of who is the greatest football player the world has ever seen.

And now at the ripe old age of 53, Diego Maradona looks set to return to the pitch to try to settle the argument once and for all.

The Argentine hero has taken some stick for his weight over the years but is believed to be fit enough for a start in a game on March 23rd for minnows Deportivo Riestra.

Riestra play their football in Argentina’s fifth-tier and the deal is as good as done according to a source who said: “Within a few weeks Diego will be playing for Riestra. The paperwork is already sorted.”

Maradona has been working at the club as a ‘spiritual coach’ and he told local newspaper Ole this week that he was “keen to play” when quizzed about the news.

It would be sensational to see Maradona back on the park but only time will tell if these rumours are true.
