Welcome to the curious case of Samuel Eto’o and his ever-changing year of birth.
And it now appears that Mourinho may have been onto something with his bizarre accusation, after the Cameroon striker’s ex-girlfriend today became involved – claiming the Chelsea player isn’t 32 as he would have us believe and not 35 as Mourinho speculated..

So how old is the two-time Champions League winner?
Former Cameroon manager Claude Leroy has revealed that Eto’o was “very angry” with Mourinho’s comments over his age and feels betrayed by the man who coached him during his stint at Inter Milan.
And we can’t imagine Eto’o’s mood will improve too much when he hears what his ex claimed earlier today.
Anna Barranca, the mother of Eto’o’s child, said: “It was evident Samuel was older than the age he said he was when he first came to Europe.”
She added: “I think Samuel is not 35 he is more 39. Samuel was born in 1974 and so that makes him 39 now.”
It looks like this saga has legs to run with, but for now Mourinho will be hoping his frontman can find the form to continue Chelsea’s push for the title.
