Fan Climbs From Stands To Replace Injured Referee During Scottish Lower League Football Match

During Dumbarton’s 2-2 Scottish Championship draw with Livingston on Wednesday night, referee Steve O’Reilly went down injured and had to be replaced by a fan after the home side appealed for any qualified referees to come forward.

The message was put over the tannoy minutes after O’Reilly sent off Dumbarton’s Garry Fleming in the second-half.

And the official Sons’ Twitter account reported on it all:

Apparently, the amateur ref did a good job at late notice.

But Scotland really needs to start putting fourth officials at lower league games.
