But if this latest Adidas ad is anything to go by, it doesn’t look impossible that the little Argentine could lead his country to a surprise victory in Brazil.

The advert showcases Adidas’ new adizero f50 – and it looks fantastic as Messi is seen jostling and outclassing his mannequin-like opponents with unbelievable ease.
The #FASTORFAIL campaign uploaded the video to YouTube yesterday, accompanied with a simple message about Messi and their new boot:
“When Leo Messi steps out onto the pitch, the world expects. His fans, his team, the hopes and dreams.
“Leo absorbs all of the expectation and pressure around him to channel it as energy that he unleashes on the pitch. Fast.
“Now, on the road to Rio, the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been. It’s all in or nothing for Leo. Fast or fail.”
The adizero advert comes hot on the heels of the first ever knitted football boot, which Adidas last week revealed would be worn by Uruguay striker Luis Suarez at the tournament.
