Ex-Tottenham Striker Gary Lineker: “Soldado Makes Me Realise I Wasn’t That Sh*t”

Roberto Soldado has had to endure his fair share of abuse this season.

The former Valencia striker was signed by Andre Villas-Boas with the idea being that the Spaniard’s goals could replace those of the departing Gareth Bale.

Unfortunately things haven’t exactly went to plan at White Hart Lane this season, with AVB losing his job in December and Soldado struggling to find the net with any regularity.

And Soldado’s lack of composure, form and technique has resulted in Spurs legend Gary Lineker tonight aiming a Tweet at the faltering frontman.

Lineker Tweeted his message after Tottenham failed to overcome Benfica in the 2nd leg of their Europa League last 16 match:

Lineker, quickly bombarded with messages from supporters of his former club, posted this message shortly after, confirming it was intended as a joke:

Lineker was of course referring to an earlier Tweet which equally caused controversy, when he posted a slightly more complimentary message aimed at Barcelona’s Lionel Messi:
