Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has been the first to throw punches in the title run-in as he slammed Manchester City’s performance on Sunday, claiming they “had to play well since they have the biggest wage budget in sport.”
Liverpool raced ahead in the chase for the Premier League as they won 3-2 at Anfield but they were made to fight for it and Rodgers has dug his claws into Pellegrini’s side, claiming it is no surprise that City played well.

The Northern Irishman said: “We were under pressure for 20 minutes against City,” he said.
“When you have the biggest wage bill in sport you have to perform well at some stage.”
