Vincent Kompany is among the best defenders in world football.
He’s taken on all the top sides in England and Europe since signing for Manchester City six seasons ago.
Speaking to his club’s Blue Moon Chat team on YouTube, the Belgian skipper heralded the Welshman from his time as a youngster with Anderlecht.
Kompany’s boyhood side took on the Scottish champions in the 2003 Champions League group stages – winning 1-0 in Belgium before falling to a 3-1 defeat at Celtic Park.
And when asked who is his toughest opponent ever, Kompany said: “Hartson – Celtic player when I was a kid.
“I was 17 and I played well in the first game but in the second game I found it very, very difficult.
“It was at Celtic in the Champions League but I was only a kid.”
Or maybe Kompany is just so much better now than when he broke through in Belgium.
