GIF: Texas High School Receiver Throws Amazing Hail Mary Pass…To Himself

The term ‘Hail Mary pass’ was invented in 1975, after Dallas Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach admitted to closing his eyes and saying a Hail Mary as he made his game-winning touchdown pass to Drew Pearson.

And despite the Hail Mary pass being over 39 years old, it’s still being repeated today.

And Texas High School receiver, Gary Haynes has given it his own unique spin…by throwing the ball to himself.

Despite only having one scholarship offering – from the University of Houston – last year, Haynes had a team high 52 catches for 876 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He also helped lead Manvel High to a 12-2 record along with qualifying for the 5A, Division II Texas state quarterfinals.

And it apparently only gets more impressive from there, after he made this jaw-dropping Hail Mary pass:

With a powerful arm and pace to burn, we can’t see Haynes struggling for scholarship offers after that effort.
