Benoit Assou-Ekotto: I Don’t Play For France Because They Blame Black Players If They Lose

Benoit Assou-Ekotto has slammed France after insisting it would have been pointless to play for the country of his birth because they blame black players and muslims for defeat.

The shock comments came from the Cameroon international as his side prepared for Wednesday’s clash against Croatia.

He said:

“When the national team get a bad result, they start to say there is a little bit too many black people, Muslim people and this kind of stuff.

“I don’t like it. There is no point for me to play for this kind of country.”

Assou-Ekotto, 30, was born in France but qualified to play for Cameroon through his father and made his international debut in 2009.

Now we wait for the French side’s reaction to the Tottenham defender’s claims.
