Lomalito Moala Is A Commonwealth Boxer For Tonga … And A Massive Celtic Fan

With the Commonwealth Games just one day away the hype is building up in Glasgow as years of hard work comes down to two short weeks with gold medals and national pride at stake.

One man who is absolutely loving life in Glasgow at the moment is Lomalito Moala, a lightweight boxer from Sydney representing Tonga.

And although he lives thousands of miles away Moala has one thing in common with at least 50% of Glasgow – he absolutely loves Celtic.

The 22-year-old was relatively unknown when he arrived in Scotland on Saturday. However, a quick visit to the Celtic store in Glasgow Airport shortly changed all that and he is now the talk of the green and white side of the city today as he makes his way around town wearing his Celtic top.

As stated before Moala’s journey to stardom started when he arrived in Glasgow:

And he then made a promise that if he got 100 retweets he would carry his Celtic jersey during the opening ceremony:

Moala surpassed that with his 658 retweets and has said that he will stick to his word when the ceremony takes place tomorrow night at Celtic Park:

The 2010 bronze medalist then posted this selfie eating in the athletes village:

The Tonga representative stated that he would be walking around town today wearing the Hoops and urged fans to get pictures with him:

Before the 22-year-old decided that he would much rather go to Celtic’s Champions League clash with KR Reykjavik tonight than a Commonwealth function, begging Celtic fans to help him get there:
