After playing probably the greatest game of his life on Tuesday evening, Tim Howard must have thought his life couldn’t have got any better.
A World Cup record of 16 saves in one match has seen the Everton goalkeeper praised across the world for one of the best goalkeeping performances our generation is likely to see.
And to top it all off for Howard US President Barack Obama decided to call him up himself, along with Clint Dempsey, to thank them for their efforts.

The President, who watched the game live in the Whitehouse, called the pair up to let them know they did their country proud and that they were great models for sports people in the States.
President Obama then goes on to joke that Howard will probably need to shave his beard before he goes home so that he is not recognisable to the happy mobs that are awaiting him.
