Luis Enrique: Everton Wasted Gerard Deulofeu.. They Tried To Kill His Creativity

Luis Enrique has slammed Everton for their treatment of Barcelona youngster Gerard Deulofeu last season.

The Catalan star spent last campaign on loan at Goodison Park and impressed boss Roberto Martinez hugely during that time.

But he won’t be returning to Merseyside this season after being sent on loan to Sevilla.

And new Barca boss Enrique has criticised Everton’s treatment of the player during the year-long spell.

He said:

Gerard Deulofeu was wasted last year. They tried to kill his flair and vision. That won’t happen at Seville.”

The 20-year-old winger scored four goals in 29 Everton appearances despite missing a period of the season through injury.

Everton fans – do you agree with Enrique’s assessment? Let us know on Twitter and Facebook.
