Luke Shaw is yet to make his first-team debut for Manchester United after leaving Southampton in the summer.

But it’s clear that the teenager already feels part of the family at Old Trafford, after he wished Rory McIlroy all the best ahead of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles this weekend.

McIlroy has never hidden his love for Manchester United and often speaks about his boyhood heroes during press conferences and interviews.

So, the fact that United left-back Shaw decided to wish him good luck will be warmly welcomed.

Shaw posted the following picture of the pair together:

Big things are expected from McIlroy as Europe take on the USA, with the Irishman currently ranked number one in the world.

And while it’s a massive weekend for McIlroy, Shaw could also be set to make the headlines.

It looks likely that the 19-year-old will start for United against West Ham, with Louis Van Gaal’s side struggling with defensive injuries.
