Roy Keane is undoubtedly one of the most feared figures in football.
As a player, he was ruthless.
As a manager, cutting.
But it’s not only those within the game who share this fear of the former Manchester United captain.
Those being opposition players, managers and even referees.
Nope. Keane hasn’t hesitated in the past to have a go at the media either.
Perhaps it’s why this Irish journalist, in Keane’s opinion, “looked scared”.
In an interview about the current Ireland squad, Keane insisted that people, particularly journalists, need to stop worrying about the toughness of their Euro qualifying group and get on with their own game.
After all, the Irish are 4/6 with bet365 to qualify for the finals; and, for the first time, the European Championships will be made up of 24 teams as opposed to the traditional 16.
Keane said:“We’ll be ready on Sunday, that’s why you play the game. Nothing to be frightened of, everyone seems to be frightened to death, particularly the media. Strange enough, I’d say you’ll be the first to celebrate if we qualify.”
The reporter closest to Keane said he wasn’t worried to which the former Man United great retorted: “You look worried.”
