Cancer-Stricken Jonas Gutierrez Completes Buenes Aires Marathon, Days After Intense Treatment Session

Jonas Gutierrez was always a fighter on the football pitch and it seems the former Newcastle United winger is using the same steely determination to beat his recent cancer battle.

Gutierrez was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year and has since appeared in Argentina without his trademark ponytail after receiving chemotherapy.

But despite his poor health and regular treatment sessions, the 31-year-old sensationally completed the grueling 26 mile-long Buenes Aires marathon at the weekend.

The one-time Argentina international ran in benefit of an Argentine cancer-prevention charity, Fuca (Foundation for Research, Teaching and Cancer Prevention).

And after completing the race, Gutierez took to Twitter to share the precious moment with his followers:

“Thank you very much to all participants Buenes Aires Marathon 42k for the support and encouragement during the race.”

Gutierez also re-Tweeted a picture of himself alongside some other participants in the race:

Two days earlier Gutierez posted this picture, seemingly showing him undergoing treatment for his cancer:

We here at Talking Baws wish Gutierez a speedy recovery and only hope we can see the Argentine fly down the wing once more in the Premier League.
