Classy Petr Cech has revealed his appreciation for Manchester United’s David de Gea following the Reds’ 2-1 over Everton on Sunday.
Cech, who currently holds the best game to clean sheet ratio in Premier League history, has been kept out of the Chelsea team by Thibaut Courtois this season.
But a clash with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez forced the former Atletico stopper off with a head injury and handed Cech his first appearance of the campaign.
After making yet another league shut-out the Czech keeper caught up with the highlights from Old Trafford – and was impressed with what he saw.
The United goalkeeper saved a Leighton Baines penalty in first half injury time but it was his second half display which proved to be the real match winner.
The game was delicately poised at 2-1 as the visitors chased a late equaliser.
A half-volley attempt from the Toffees’ Bryan Oviedo looked to be sailing into the top corner before the outstretched arm of the Spanish keeper tipped it over the bar.
And Cech heaped the praise on de Gea’s unorthodox style.
Some people will still say that the keepers shouldn't use the opposite hand 🙂 what about this …pic.twitter.com/PqDwlCX8Es
