Diego Maradona Set To Become New Palestine National Team Manager

Diego Maradona is no stranger to controversy – but his latest move may be his most shocking as reports suggest he’s set to become the next manager of the Palestine national team.

The Argentine legend has been out of work since leaving UAE side Al-Wasl in 2012.

And if he was to take over Palestine then he would lead them into their maiden AFC Asian Cup campaign.

According to the The Times of Israel, Maradona, 53, is in advanced talks with the Palestine Football Association to thrash out a deal to take over the 102nd ranked side.

Maradona has spoken of his support for the Palestine people previously, saying:

“I am the number one fan of the Palestinian people, I respect them and sympathize with them.

“I promised the Palestinian football team to visit Palestine. I support this nation’s cause, since I grew up on struggle and standing against injustice.”

There remains huge problems in Palestine as the region and Israel continue to battle over territory in Gaza.
