Sunderland Players Offer Fans Who Travelled To 8-0 Thrashing At Southampton A Refund On Their Ticket

Sunderland players are going to dip into their own pockets to refund their loyal fans who travelled to Southampton on Saturday and witnessed their team being destroyed.

Sunderland’s official Twitter account broke the news after goalkeeper Vito Mannone had urged his teammates to refund fans who had watched their team in one of their worst performances in recent years.

Club captain John O’Shea said:  “We win and lose as a team, players, staff and fans, however, we wanted to acknowledge and thank the supporters who travelled such a long way to give us their backing and despite everything, stayed with us until the final whistle.”

Anyone who doesn’t wish to claim a personal refund will have the cost of their ticket donated to Sunderland-based children’s charity Grace House.
