Barcelona Say Lionel Messi Is Not For Sale Until He Asks For A Transfer Request

Barça has acted quickly to quell rumours of a potential sale of Lionel Messi stating that he would only be available if he requested a transfer, according to the Spanish AS newspaper.

Multiple reports have arisen this week following Messi’s comments made in the Argentinean newspaper, Olé. His father, Jorge, was the latest to speak out on the likelihood of a move, saying absolutely not, but obviously still hinting maybe.

It’s hard to imagine a Barcelona team without Leo Messi as he has come to symbolise the spirit and flair of their football as well as being the front man for an incredibly talented group of players, but as Andrés Iniesta and Xavi Hernández appear to be losing some of their special powers as they age it might now be the time for Messi to think about a new challenge.

If the right money was put on the table, could Barcelona knock it back as they look to build a new squad to match the talents of those seen for the past decade at the Nou Camp?
