Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng Goes 50 Games Unbeaten in the Bundesliga

For any Moneyball fans out there who assess the impact of players on team performance then look no further than Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng, who has gone 50 games in the Bundesliga without defeat. He’ll have forgotten what it tastes like.

His last loss was to Bayer Leverkusen at the end of October 2012 and, only to make the point again or join the dots for those without a calculator, that’s over two years ago. An incredible record and it looks likely that on the Bavarian side’s current form he will stretch this into the new year.

He’d have significant bragging rights if it wasn’t for the fact that, as the player with the longest winning stretch, he’s joined in the Top 10 by another nine Bayern Munich players, so statistically we can probably assume that Bayern’s results are 50% down to Jerome Boateng and 50% down to Bayern being a pretty decent side.
