Jayse Simpson is a huge fan of Florida State.
He’s also a currently struggling after having three open-heart surgeries.
So, on Monday night when Jayse returned to hospital to find out what was next – whether he would require more surgery or not – he was understandably feeling vulnerable and alone.
That was until Jayse received a Facetime call… with a difference.
When the 17-year-old fan’s phone rang, it was none-other than Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, who wanted to wish the youngster good luck and tell him to stay strong.
That in itself was a wonderful heart-warming act, but what was to follow would only surpass that.
When Jayse’s conversation with Winston was over, his phone rang once again and this time it was FSU kicker Robert Aguayo.
And then again when offensive linemen Cameron Erving and Jose Matias wanted to wish him well and then finally Jayse’s favourite player, receiver Bobo Wilson called.
When Jayse finally got off the phone, he had been contacted individually by almost the entire FSU roster.
Jayse’s mother told the Tallahassee Democrat:
“They took time out of their day, out of their week – this week that means the most to Florida State football.
“They told him to be strong. And that he was going to get through it no matter what. Just the fact that they took time out of their day to call a kid they didn’t know, it was just really cool.
“And it was another and another and another. They made sure they stayed with him that day.”
