Gervinho: I Hate Arsenal

Roma winger Gervinho says his treatment by Arsene Wenger at Arsenal has caused him to ‘hate’ the club, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Ivorian spent two seasons at Arsenal before moving to the Giallorossi in an £8m deal, and has compared Gunners manager Wenger unfavourably with Roma Coach Rudi Garcia. T

As a child I dreamed of playing for Arsenal, because I loved them. Now I hate them for the way Wenger treated me.

Under Wenger, Gervinho felt he was never really given a chance to fulfil his potential, but with Roma boss Rudi Garcia, he has been given a new lease of life.

He [Wenger] never had confidence in me. Garcia doesn’t differentiate between those who are playing and those who aren’t playing. That’s important for a player. He doesn’t only speak to those who are playing, he talks to everyone as there are 25 players in the squad, not just 11.
