VIDEO: Incredible Footage Shows Peruvian Footballer Being Struck By Lightening.. Luckily He Survives

Gale force winds and torrential rain maybe battering the UK today, but it seems we’re not the only place having to deal with the bad weather.

This incredible footage from a football match in Peru realised everyone’s worst nightmare after a lightening storm descended over the game.

At the start of the video, towards the top left of the picture, a puff of smoke can be seen where 21-year-old Joao Contreras was struck by a bolt of lightening before falling to the floor.

The incident happened as his side tried to overturn a 6-3 deficit from the first leg of their Copa Peru tie.

But football went out the window as medics and team-mates rushed to help the stricken player on the ground.

Remarkably Contreras survived the ordeal.
