Arsene Wenger: People Will Accuse French of Controlling World Football if David Ginola Becomes FIFA President

Arsene Wenger: People Will Accuse French of Controlling World Football if David Ginola Becomes FIFA President

Arsene Wenger insists there is little chance of David Ginola becoming FIFA president because of the unfair criticism it could get France.

The former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder has confirmed he will bid to replace Sepp Blatter in May.

It’s a move backed by bookmakers Paddy Power, who are paying Ginola £250,000 to run.

But when questioned on his fellow Frenchman running for the presidency, Wenger believes France could be accused of controlling world football because Michel Platini is already UEFA president.

He said:

You will accuse us of having control of world football if he becomes Fifa president and Platini is Uefa president!

That has very little chance of happening, let’s be realistic.

So that’s one high-profile coach Ginola won’t be getting backing from.
