Roy Hodgson Voted Javier Mascherano as His FIFA Ballon d’Or

Roy Hodgson believes Javier Mascherano is the best football player in the world – based on his FIFA Ballon d’Or selection.

The England boss ignored Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – who was crowned the winner – and instead backed the Barcelona and Argentine midfielder.

Like other international gaffers, Hodgson got three votes for the award.

But he opted for Mascherano for the top prize with Germans Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer second and third respectively.

Hodgson’s skipper Wayne Rooney also ignored Messi with his selection but backed former Manchester United team-mate Ronaldo with Real Madrid man Toni Kroos in second and Gareth Bale in third.
