Crystal Palace Midfielder Barry Bannan Brands Celtic-Inter Milan Referee A ‘Disgrace’ After Hoops Are Eliminated From Europa League

Crystal Palace Midfielder Barry Bannan Brands Celtic-Inter Milan Referee A ‘Disgrace’ After Hoops Are Eliminated From Europa League

Celtic can leave the San Siro with their heads held high tonight despite being eliminated from the Europa League by Inter Milan.

Hoops defender Virgil Van Dijk was harshly sent off in the first half, leaving Celtic hampered in their attempts to score at the home of the Italian giants.

Several Celtic fans took to Twitter throughout the match to vent their frustrations toward the official, who they argued was card-happy in his approach.

Even Crystal Palace and Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan joined in when he claimed the result was a ‘disgrace’ and that the referee ‘beat’ Celtic:

Celtic joined Tottenham and Liverpool in leaving the competition at the knock out stage, while Everton are currently leading Young Boys 2-1.
