When Chelsea sold David Luiz to PSG in the summer, it left us scratching our heads.
Not because Jose Mourinho was open to selling to Brazilian, but because the Blues were able to squeeze £5o million out of the Parisian giants for the defenders signature.
Luiz often looked out of his depth in the Premier League and most Chelsea fans rejoiced when he was moved on for such a substantial fee.
But now, with PSG set to face off against Luiz’s former club in the Champions League tonight, the centre-back claims he is now worth more.
Speaking to the London Evening Standard, Luiz said:
I think and I hope I am valued at more than 50 million pounds.
Football is a business. You have these kinds of things. It’s not for me to talk about the price.
I just need to show my football every day and do my job for the club.
Tonight’s encounter should prove to be a great test for Laurent Blanc’s side with the Ligue 1 champions have fallen at the quarter-final stage of the Champions League for two seasons in a row.
However, Luiz feels they boast a team which is strong enough to challenge:
We have an amazing team, but it’s not easy to win the Champions League.
We need to be strong and to put in an amazing first leg, because we need to decide it there.
