The majestic Luis Suarez scored one and created two as Barcelona beat Granada 3-1 this afternoon.
Barca are now just one point behind Real Madrid at the top of La Liga, who host Villarreal tomorrow evening.
Suarez is now beginning to justify his eye-watering £75m price tag, having scored 10 goals and assisted 13 in his last 24 matches.
The Uruguayan’s cross-shot allowed Ivan Rakitic to turn into an empty net for the opener and he doubled the lead himself, poking home after half-time.
Fran Rico’s penalty gave Granada hope but Suarez rounded the keeper to create a tap-in for Leo Messi to make it 3-1.
Granada – 19th in La Liga – have managed just 16 league goals this season, 11 fewer than Messi alone.
After the match, Barca manager Luis Enrique was gushing with praise for the in-form Suarez, saying: “Maybe Suarez is standing out more when he’s scoring but since he started playing with us he has done very well and worked very hard.”
