Pablo Zabaleta called Joe Hart ‘the man’ after his last-minute penalty save meant Manchester City travel to Barcelona in three weeks with just a 2-1 deficit to overturn.
The Argentine defender had impressed all night at right back, but almost became a late villain when he fouled Lionel Messi in the box with just seconds of the game to go.
Fortunately for Zabaleta, his countryman saw his spotkick saved by Hart to keep the score at 2-1.
And the full-back heaped praise on his goalie for digging him out of a whole and, potentially, saving his side’s Champions League dream.
It was a fantastic save, he’s a top goalkeeper and in that key moment he was the man.
After the game I went straight to him to say thanks because, obviously, I was a bit frustrated about the penalty.

City head to Barcelona on March 18 hoping they can score at least two goals to get through to the Champions League last eight.
A Luis Suarez double had Barca in front by half-time of their Etihad clash last night, but Sergio Aguero pulled one back for City and probably should have added another in a second period which the home side dominated.
