Louis van Gaal seems to be suffering from a little bit of short-term memory loss.
The Manchester United boss let midfielder Darren Fletcher leave the club on Monday night to join West Brom – then named him as a sub for their FA Cup replay with Cambridge United on Tuesday.
The Dutchman’s amusing error was spotted by many on social media, as he appeared to have crossed out the Scotland international’s name from the subs’ bench once he realised his mistake.
Fletcher spent almost 12 years as a first team player at Old Trafford.
And it would seem his decision to leave the club has even taken the current Red Devils boss by surprise.

Luckily for winger Ashley Young, Fletcher’s departure seen him drafted back into the squad.
United ran out comfortable 3-0 winners to progress to the fifth round.
