On The Seven Year Anniversary Of Horror Injury, Eduardo da Silva Takes To Twitter To Thank Arsenal Fans For Their Support

Seven years ago today, ex-Arsenal striker Eduardo suffered a broken left fibula and an open dislocation of his left ankle in a Premier League match against Birmingham City.

The tackle from defender Martin Taylor ruled Eduardo out for a year with the Croatian international facing months of rehabilitation.

The Brazilian-born striker left the club in 2010 having failed to hit the heights expected of him at the Emirates, predominantly because of that injury.

The fans understood his career could easily have ended that day in Birmingham and every Gunner respected the player’s determination to return to this pitch.

And in return, seven years to the day, Eduardo has taken to Twitter to thank the Arsenal fans for all of their good wishes at a time where he could easily have hung up his boots:

Eduardo is currently signed to Brazilian side Flamengo and has scored 8 goals in 18 appearances for the Rio based club.

Not squeamish? Here’s the tackle:
