Twitter Reacts To Mistaken Identity Red Card In Manchester City vs West Brom

It’s another case of mistaken identity in the English Premier League at the Etihad today and Twitter has reacted in hilarious fashion.

With barely a minute on the clock, Wilfred Bony went through on goal and was brought down by Craig Dawson but referee Neil Swarbrick mistakenly branded the red card to Gareth McCauley.

It’s not the first time this has happened though. Exactly a year ago Kieron Gibbs was mistaken for Alex Oxlade Chamberlain for a hand ball against Chelsea, and even more recently referee Roger East couldn’t tell Wes Brown from John O’Shea.

As ever, Twitter was quick to get on top of the situation and some of the reactions were priceless.
