Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso is set for an emotional Anfield return on Sunday, as he takes part in Liverpool’s All-Star charity game.
Alonso is on Team Gerrard and will be an essential part of the squad which will face off against ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher’s outfit.
And it seems the mind-games have already started after Carragher highlighted Alonso’s “lack of pace” on Twitter:
@LFC @XabiAlonso "Well Xabi is entitled to his opinion our team would never criticise another but we will look to exploit his lack of pace!"
— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) March 27, 2015
Alonso, of course saw this Tweet and decided to remind everyone of an awful prediction made by Carragher back in 2008:
@Carra23 @LFC can't argue about the lack of pace. Your quotes May 2008 ' Spain can't win anything, you can't run…' Great visión Gaffa 🙂

Spain have of course won the World Cup (2010) and two European Championships (2008, 2012).
Good call, Jamie.
