Adidas have today launched the “best-fitting football boot in the world” by unveiling their revolutionary Primeknit 2.0 today.
It comes as part of their “Limited Collection” which also saw the 99g boot released last week.
The all-new Primeknit 2.0 brings together two key adidas innovation projects – the original Samba Primeknit boot, and the Primeknit FS (Footy Sock) prototype; which was a “concept” boot presented by adidas in 2014.
The boots were launched and worn on the pitch last year by Barcelona superstar Luis Suarez.
The Primeknit 2.0 comes with “compression fit” technology and includes an all-new compression tongue with Lyrcra yarns wrapping around the midfoot. The heel shape and design provide optimum support following the natural shape of the back of the foot.
Perhaps one of the most exciting innovations is the knit structure specifically designed to aid control – with a 3D texture that combines ball control with unrivalled manoeuvrability and traction.
The “outer shell” of the Primeknit 2.0 comprises of a zoned knitted upper with a lightweight vacuum coated skin to protect the yarns and retain a soft surface, meaning the boot is at home in any weather, on any pitch.
Adidas plan to release footwear items in their “Limited Collection” which showcase innovation and collaboration – but there will only be super-limited quantities according to the brand.
There are 299 pairs of the adizero 99g boot, but there are considerably more of the Primeknit 2.0 with 10,000 pairs available globally.
They will be debuted by some of the world’s best players in the Champions League quarter-final second leg matches this week.
The limited edition adidas Primeknit 2.0 boot is available to purchase from Wednesday 22nd April in adidas own-retail outlets as well as specialist retailers worldwide. For further information please visit adidas.com/football.
