A Team-By-Team Recap of the 2015 NFL Draft

A Team-By-Team Recap of the 2015 NFL Draft

Pittsburgh Steelers

Got what the wanted, and what they needed. Bud Dupree sled to 22, and gives Steelers a scary pass rush. Senquez Golson was my favorite corner in the Draft, and they got him in the 2nd. We should see a lot of INTs from him. Sammie Coates (WR) and Jesse James (TE) were brought in to help Big Ben. A lot of good picks.

Grade: B

San Diego Chargers

Moved up two spots to get Melvin Gordon. Great pick, but you didn’t have to spend that much to get him. Denzel Perryman should help out the pass rush, but San Diego didn’t have enough pick to fill their needs. Gordon was too expensive.

Grade: C

San Fransisco 49ers

Was going to pick Arim Armstead anyway, and was happy when San Diego wanted to give them some picks to swap places. Tartt was such a reach in the 2nd round, but they made up for it with projected 2nd rounder Eli Harold in the 3rd. Blake Bell and ‘Busta’ Anderson are two new big targets for Colin. DeAndre Smelter (WR) also fills the big need of a red zone threat.

Grade: B

Seattle Seahawks

They didn’t really need any Draft picks, but they got some anyway. Their picks were not the best I’ve seen. Frank Clark in the 2nd was way too early, but they did a good job moving up for Tyler Lockett. Terry Poole impressed me for San Diego Aztecs last season, making Donnell Pumphrey a success at running back. None of their picks stand out, but they filled whatever they needed.

Grade: C

St. Louis Rams

Maybe day one’s biggest surprise was Todd Gurley to St. Louis. Tre Mason was a good pick last year, and you should think they would go in another direction. Gurley’s ACL makes him a risky pick at ten. Sean Mannion was a great pick in the 3rd to be Nick Foles’ backup. Had the best arm in the Draft. The Rams had nine picks, but didn’t manage to take one player to their secondary. That was really surprising, and really stupid.

Grade: D

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston! Grade: A… just kidding. They got the QB, but didn’t get anything new in their D-line. Donovan Smith and Ali Marpet will make their O-line stronger, and the late round WRs Bell and Clay might be good. I don’t know.

Grade: C

Tennessee Titans

They couldn’t pass on him, could they? Mariota ended up in Nashville, followed by a big target in Dorial Green-Beckham. On the following seven picks, no secondary players were taken. And you have to face Andrew Luck and his WR group twice a year. Stupid.

Grade: D

Washington Redskins

Chasing needs. Went all out on Brandon Scherff with their fifth pick. They did fill all their needs, but no picks stand out. Average.

Grade: C
