Carlo Ancelotti’s agent Ernesto Bronzetti insists Rafa Benitez is almost certain to become the next Real Madrid manager.
Bronzetti spoke after his client was sacked by Madrid boss Florentino Perez yesterday for failing to lead the club to any trophies during a disappointing 2014/15 season.
A number of names have been linked with the top job at the Spanish giants, including Jurgen Klopp and Zinedine Zidane.
But it appears Benitez is favourite to be handed the role with Perez confirming in the statement announcing Ancelotti’s departure that a replacement would be named next week.
The Spaniard is still in charge of Napoli, but it’s been reported that talks are at an advanced stage.
And now Ancelotti’s agent Bronzetti has revealed Benitez is on the verge of taking over.
Asked if Benitez was the favourite, Bronzetti replied:
Rafa Benitez is 99 percent Real Madrid coach.
It would be a controversial appointment given Benitez’s lack of success in recent years over spells with Inter Milan, Chelsea and Napoli.
