The cost of relegation to the Championship is well documented – just ask Queens Park Rangers who appear on the brink of financial oblivion after seeing their expensive top-flight gamble backfire.
Back in 2012/2013 in their Championship season Hull made £2million in television revenue while this year they made £68million as part of the world’s best-covered football league. That’s without taking revenue from any other commercial streams into account.
Hull play host to Manchester Utd, who already have fourth place and Champions League football next season in the bag. And this could give them a chance with United having nothing left to play for. Any other week you wouldn’t give Hull a chance – especially taking into consideration their poor form recently. They will need to pray someone can pop up from nowhere as their goal scoring record is terrible. But it’s not quite as bad as Newcastle and their goal difference is better than the Magpies going into the final day – could this be a factor? We will soon see.
But I’m going for a brave bet for Hull City to beat Manchester United @ 21/10 with Paddy Power.
Newcastle are at home to West Ham in their fight for survival – and I am not optimistic for John Carver’s men. West Ham’s away form is amongst the poorest in the league and Newcastle will be praying they continue that today. But this looks like being Big Sam’s last game in charge of the Hammers and I fancy him to go out on a high.
Another brave selection for West Ham to beat Newcastle @ 16/5 with Paddy Power.
