Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Reveals His One Regret After Winning World Cup With Germany Last Summer

Mesut Ozil has enjoyed a fantastic past 12 months, having not only lifted the FA Cup for a second time with Arsenal but also winning the World Cup in Brazil last summer.

And while the end of the Premier League season finally saw Ozil return to full form, the Germany international admits he does have a regret from last season.

However, it’s perhaps not one you would expect…

And we say that because it involves German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Ozil has revealed that his biggest regret after winning the World Cup was his failure in not posing for a selfie with Merkel.

Slightly strange…probably, but a kind-hearted gesture all the same.

And the former-Real Madrid ace promised that if his country can continue their fine form and win Euro 2016, Merkel will be his first port of call.

Ozil told German newspaper Bild am Sonntag:

“During the celebrations I completely forgot [to get a selfie with her] and now regret it.

“I hope to have another opportunity to do it someday. If we win [the UEFA European Football Championship], I’ll wait for Mrs. Merkel at the dressing-room door.”

For a player who has posed alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Derrick Rose and Rihanna… I think it’s fair to say we all expected a little more razzle dazzle!
