Eden Hazard has thrown his weight behind Chelsea signing Christian Benteke by saying he’d be the happiest man in the world if the transfer materialised.
The Belgian star – who is currently on international duty – believes playing for a Champions League team is the next logical move for Benteke.
And Hazard insists he’s shown in his three seasons with Aston Villa that he’s good enough to take his career to the next level.
Speaking as the pair prepare for their Euro 2016 clash with Wales, Hazard said:
If Christian signs with us, I would be the happiest man in the world.
I have a great relationship with him and would like nothing better than to play with him. Christian is 25. He is at an age where he has to make a good career choice.
Not that Aston Villa is a small club but he has already played many great games and can now play in the Champions League.
Benteke moved to the Midlands in 2012 and has scored 49 goals in 99 appearances under both Paul Lambert and now Tim Sherwood.
But if Chelsea are to make a move for the frontman, they’d have to cough up £32.5million to activate his buy-out clause.
