Paraguay coach Ramon Diaz was clearly thinking outside the box when he came up with the reward his players would receive for a successful Copa America.
Normally a team would earn a lucrative financial bonus or maybe even a few weeks in the sun to relax after a competition.
However Diaz isn’t a normal guy, so instead the 55-year-old is offerring his squad pickup trucks.
And bizarrely, Diaz has already been forced to hand two trucks over after the team advanced to the semi-finals, where they will meet Argentina tonight.
Diaz has already confirmed that if Paraguay, who failed to qualify for last summer’s World Cup, can beat Lionel Messi’s side then he will owe the team a third truck.
As reported in the Guardian, Diaz said:
“Did I promise the squad something?
Ask the players, they’ve already won two”
And Paraguay striker Édgar Benítez later confirmed the reports:
“We’ve already won two pickups off him and we’re going for the third.“
