Rafael Benitez Cries As He Is Officially Unveiled As Real Madrid’s New Manager

It was always going to be an emotional occasion when lifelong Real Madrid fan Rafael Benitez was unveiled as the club’s new manager this afternoon.

But few would have expected the passionate Spaniard to shed a tear at the official presentation.

And that’s exactly what happened when the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss was handed the reigns of arguably the biggest club in world football.

Benitez made a speech that was short and sweet as his emotions clearly got the better of him.

The Champions League winning coach said:

“This is the hard part, having to speak but not really knowing what to say.

Madrid is my home. It’s emotional to be back.

I hope it goes well, that the team plays quality football and wins trophies.”

As of yet, it is unclear what changes if any Benitez will make to the playing squad at the Bernabeu.

Former manager Carlo Ancelotti had the full backing of the players before he was sacked by the La Liga giants so it will be interesting to see what relationship the former Valencia boss has with his squad.
