Seattle Sounders midfielder Clint Dempsey completely lost his cool last night during a match with Portland Timbers, where he spectacularly saw red for ripping up the referees notebook.
Three Sounders players were given their marching orders by the referee during a heated encounter, something which infuriated former Fulham star Dempsey.
The 32-year-old was booked earlier in the game for showing signs of dissent to the official when teammate Micheal Aziri was sent for an early bath.
However the madness didn’t stop there as Dempsey went on a crazed outburst, where he took the referees notebook from his pocket, tore it up and then threw it to the ground.
Needless to say Dempsey was then given a straight red card.

Sounders were forced to finish the match with seven men after Dempsey, Aziri and Brad Evans were all sent off in the fourth round of the US Open Cup.
Striker Obafemi Martins also left the field with an injury and could not be replaced as the Seattle side had used all of their substitutes.
This handed the numerical advantage to the Timbers who in turn inflicted a 3-1 defeat on the Western conference leaders.
