Juventus and adidas have unveiled their new home and away kits for the 2015/16 season – and taken the unexpected step of adding another star above the club’s iconic badge.
In the first release since Juve left Nike to begin a six-year deal with the sportswear giants, the Italian champions will wear their traditional black and white stripes at home next term.
While on the road they’ll go pink – in a bold new design and colour scheme.
Significantly, the kits now feature three stars above the badge rather than two.
Juve have had the right to wear three stars on their strip since securing their 30th Serie A title at the end of the 2014/15 season.
But the club president has spoken before about how they would remain with two in protest against their 2005 and 2006 league wins being stripped from for their part in the Calciopoli match-fixing scandal.
At the time of Juve’s 30th Scudetto win – as recognised by the Italian governing body – Agnelli said:
We’re not putting the third star on our shirts.
For us, we have 32 Scudettos, even if only 30 of them are being counted. Then when somebody else manages to be able to put a second star on their shirt, we will add the third to ours, just to emphasise the difference.
Tied in with adidas’ Our Way or No Way digital campaign, Juve’s new strips are sure to be a big hit with fans from both inside and outside of Italy.
The home and away kits will be available to buy from today at adidas and Juventus own-retail stores, specialist sports retailers and e-commerce channels worldwide.
