Louis van Gaal has suggested Manchester United are not in talks to sign Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller.
The Dutchman has been strongly linked with the German international in recent days, with several sources reporting a £55.7million bid being lodged by the English club.
It’s another player who van Gaal knows well from his time at Bayern in the Bundesliga.
But the United boss poured cold water on the rumour last night – albeit stopping short of referring to Muller by name.
Asked about adding another striker to his squad in his US press conference, van Gaal answered:
He’s in the process. It’s not the striker that the media has written about. You have to wait and see.
The transfer period is open until August 31. You have to wait.
Given Muller’s name has dominated headlines over the last few days, it’s only fair to assume that van Gaal was referring to the Bayern frontman.
But it remains to be seen exactly who will come through the door to bolster United’s attack.
