Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm has suggested there is a possibility that Thomas Muller could leave the Bundesliga champions for Manchester United.
German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has already swapped the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford this summer and reports suggest United may also be looking to lure Muller to the Premier League.
And while it seems unlikely that Pep Guardiola would sanction any move for Muller, Lahm claims it isn’t entirely impossible.
Lahm, who is currently with Bayern on a pre-season tour of Asia, told a news conference this afternoon:
“In football you can imagine everything.
It’s not my decision.
In football, it goes so, so quickly.
It’s not always only up to the player. There are clubs who get players, players go.”
The defender who captained Germany to victory in last summer’s World Cup added:
“In football everything goes very, very quickly. I think you can never give a guarantee that it will work like this or like that.
As a result, I certainly can’t give any guarantee for Thomas Muller or talk about whether I can imagine [him leaving]. You can always imagine anything happening.”
