VIDEO: Jonny Bairstow Celebrates England Ashes Call-Up in Style

Jonny Bairstow continued his fine form and celebrated his call-up to the England squad with a belligerent 74 from just 51 balls to seal Yorkshire’s fifth successive win in the County Championship.

In front of 2,000 strong crowd at Scarborough, Bairstow showed everyone just why he has been preferred to county teammate Gary Ballance in the England squad for the third Test at Edgbaston next week.

Chasing 157 to win, Bairstow arrived at the crease with his side 44/3 in their chase. Some may say that given England’s recent top-order failings, this was the perfect practice for the resumption of his Test career.

Bairstow proceeded to flay the Worcestershire attack, including Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal, to all parts of North Marine Road.

This assault now sees Bairstow sitting pretty with 980 runs at an average of 108.88 in the County Championship this season.

His selection will provide some hope for many on the county circuit, that sheer weight of runs will make the selectors eventually take notice.
